Oh Baby, What A Break!
Written by Admin on September 4, 2008 – 12:11 am -Apparently, a new concept in luxury travel is the ‘babymoon’ – the last chance for some serious pampering before the birth.
A number of hotels are offering package deals that include everything for the mum-and dad-to-be, including massages and baby gifts. One even has a chef on hand to provide a late night ‘craving menu’ in case the expectant mother fancies a bizarre culinary combination that’s a long way from the a la carte.
Among Luxique’s range of luxury and boutique hotels, I’ve found a couple that offer the ‘babymoon’ option.
For a laid-back Western-style break, try the world class Triple Creek Ranch at Darby in the Montana Rockies. The six-day ‘Something’s Cooking’ deal (for the price of five) includes in-room massages and gifts.
Alternatively, there’s the ‘Baby’s on the Way’ package at the historical Planters Inn in Charleston, South Carolina. This includes three nights in a large room with four-poster bed. Mom gets a jar of pickles, a cuddly teddy bear and a backpack full of information about baby care; Dad gets a cigar and Cognac (well, no-one said life was going to be fair!). There’s also a guided carriage ride for two round Charleston.
Now the health warning: be sure to check with your doctor that the ‘lady in waiting’ is at a stage where it’s safe to travel.
